As far as I know, Melissa Sweet isn’t inespensive.  Maggie Sottero, Mori Lee and Allure have some very nice gowns that are not so expensive.  They may have a gown very similar to the gown you have in mind.  Otherwise, you might want to consider having it made to mimic the Melissa Sweet gown you like.

There was a Lazaro dress that I had liked and even the sample dress, $2000, was over my budget.

Not sure what you dress budget is, though….

You might check out various used wedding dress websites or check in with a consignment boutique. I got a great Ann Taylor dress (that admittedly wasn’t super expensive at 1200 new) for 250 and it’s in great shape.

check out http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com or see if you have any consignment shops in your area. I went to one and bought a sample Nicole Miller dress, new with tags for 10% of what it would have retailed for. Granted, I wasn’t on the lookout for any particular dress, and it was my first time shopping for a dress, but I fell in love, and now its mine! Check Yelp.com for consignment shops for starters.

Hi! I was originally going to go with a bridesmaids dress in white as well, but I got frustrated when I realized that you can’t ever return them if they don’t fit. I ended up using Nordstroms. Especially now that it’s spring – apparently a lot of high school graduations require white dresses and so my local store has about 25 different gorgeous white and ivory dresses, both short and long. Also with nordstroms.com you can return a dress if it doesn’t fit and you just pay for the shipping, which is what I did, I think I ordered and returned 5 dresses before I found one I liked. If you want your dress to look like a classic wedding gown though then they don’t really have anything like that. Hope this helps!

Brides Against Breast Cancer! I cannot recommend this enough! I actually bought both of my dresses there! They take sample and used gowns and sell them at a deeply discounted price. The money that they make then goes towards helping women with breast cancer go on a cruise with their daughters or helps to buy them plane tickets to see their Mom’s one last time. It’s really a great charity and they go on “tour” quite often.

As far as dresses, when I went, the most expensive dress was a San Patrick for about $1,200, but the majority of the dresses were anywhere between $500-800 dresses. Some were less. Definitely check it out!! bridesagainstbreastcancer.com
