@Lisa1008: You might want to consider looking for an off date/long holiday weekend. My fiance and I are getting married at The Old Mill in Rose Valley, PA (close to Media). They have a beautiful indoor/outdoor space. The site fee can be as much as $4400, but we are paying $750 for Thursday, July 3rd. You do have to use the caterer which starts at $60 for full dinner, appetizers and drinks minus the alchohol. The fee also includes a selection of chairs and linens.

@Lisa1008 We just booked our wedding at Tyler Arboretum for May 2015! We also knew we wanted an outdoor, rustic-y feel wedding and this was an amazing location, especially for the price and time of year we wanted to get married. Because we wanted an outdoor wedding we knew we wanted May, just because a lot of the different flowers, trees and plants are in bloom while the weather is still relatively pleasent. However that’s definitley PEAK wedding season which can get really expensive. Tyler is actually MUCH more affordable than some of the other venues in the area that have the same feel and if you are on a tighter budget like we are, look at Fridays or Sundays instead of Saturdays. (We also got a discount on our catering for booking a Sunday)
Tyler is BEAUTIFUL. One of the ceremony sights is the amazing field with magnolia trees and lilac bushes. The cocktail hour takes place on a porch/stone patio that overlooks the arboretum and is absolutely beautiful. The part that really sealed the deal for me is the walkway that leads from the cockatil area to the reception tent. The view walking up is really romantic and pretty with the lights on the tent the stone path and this big beautiful tree that you can decorate with lgihts or mason jars etc. That’s another thing that I loved about Tyler: there are a lot of different opportunities to DIY and make it your own.
Tyler uses an exlcusive caterer: Jeffrey Miller Catering. It is a little bit more expensive than other cateres but they have different options and will personalize everything to fit your budget. And honestly, I’ve never been to a wedding where the food was memorable and we wanted our guests to be well-fed and enjoy their experienece. From what I’ve read, Jeffrey Miller’s food is AMAZING and ALOT of care and lovin is put in the food. For example, they have their own in-house chartucerie and bake their own bread! We’re going to a tasting later this year and are so excited.
Anyhow, we’re really excited as we begin the planning process and we feel like we can finally enjoy it because choosing the right venue and caterer has been a huge weight off our shoulders! 🙂

Sadly, things have changed and just the site fee starts at $6500 for off-season $10500 for summer (and they have exclusive catering contracts)

Oh yikes! I know when my parents were married there, they had the entire wedding for under $9K and that was with an open bar and really nice catered plated dinner!
Talk about inflation!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their feedback. Our plans got a little delayed an we are still looking for a venue. Does anyone had any other places they can think of?
