I have a darling baby girl who is a little over 3 months old now and for the first time since I gave birth she made my hair turn white a few days ago. She never sleeps flat on her back, we have a bunny bassinet that she sleeps in during the night and a swing that she sleeps in during the day and both are inclined so it’s rare that she lays flat on her back.
A few nights ago I put her in her normal crib so I could tidy up around the house, put the dogs to their crates and get everything ready for bed. It wasn’t the first time I’ve put her in a regular crib so I didn’t think anything of her being flat on her back, however as I was walking by I noticed her movements became urgent and she was flailing more then her usual baby kicks, then I noticed she wasn’t breathing. I grabbed her as fast as I could and patted her back fairly hard for several seconds and finally she was able to move whatever was stuck in her throat out. It sounded like she had reflux and couldn’t pass the spit through so now I’m beside myself with worry because I couldn’t hear her, I honestly think if I hadn’t seen her she wouldn’t have been able to get herself to breathe.
I’m too paranoid to allow her to lay flat on her back again without me being there and she’s getting close to the weight limit on the swing and bassinet. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve heard of crib wedges, how are they? I want something that I can put near our bed because I can’t close my eyes without seeing her seizure-like movements or bypass the fear of what happened.
