@Jenn23: (((hugs))) I have a tiny inkling of what you are going though, having just had a series of dissapointing betas myself… it is so hard getting numbers that are not what you’d hoped and then waiting and not knowing. Your numbers are much better than mine and I think you still have good reason to hope. 66% is considered acceptable, isn’t it (66% in 48 hrs, doubling in 72)? Saying lots of prayers for you and your DH!!! I really hope you get your take home baby.

I think I’m going to post my updates over here since they’ve been long and technically complicated lately …

I stayed away all day, but I thought you all deserved an update after your sweet comments last night. My progesterone level came back low, so it’s definitely not implantation bleeding. They want me to keep an eye on it over the weekend to see whether it’s a period or something else. I’m to call the office at 8 a.m. Monday and let them know. At that point, we’ll discuss whether to start me on a new round of meds (either femara or back to clomid. I’m leaning toward clomid at this point because at least it made me ovulate!) or to start me on birth control to get my hormone levels back to baseline. I’m not sure how long I would have to take the BC. Hopefully not that long — maybe like a short cycles-worth? Until then I’m just hanging out. This cycle is shot, but I’m not quite as bummed out as I was last night. Once we make a plan, I’ll feel better about everything.

OK, so the problem we are having right now (both me and the doctor) is that we dont’ know whether I am on a “period” and back at CD2 or still in the middle of my last cycle at CD22. All we know is that my progesterone is low, which means I haven’t ovulated. We don’t know what is causing the bleeding. Does anyone have an idea I can suggest to my doctor for how to figure this out?

Also need advice on this: Do you guys know anything about Femara dosages? This month I was on 2.5 mgs for 5 days and my doctor says that’s the only dose he’s heard of. I think he is going to be researching it a bit this weekend, but I thought I remembered hearing a couple girls say that they took 5 mgs and I thought someone on the Infertility thread took 5 mgs for like 10 days!

(If you’re wondering why I have to hold my doc’s hand, he’s is not an RE, just an ob/gyn who does fertility meds and IUIs. Yes, I know I should be seeing an RE, but there’s only 1 RE office in my town and the initial consult alone is $250. Whereas seeing a gyno is covered by my insurance so all my visits are $30.)

@Jenn23:  I’m so sorry. Take all the time you need.  We’ll all be sending our most positive vibes that those numbers kick into high gear by Tuesday.  Love.

@bunny:  I did femara 2.5 mg for 5 days the first month, and 5 mgs the following 2 months.  My RE also said she often bumps it up to 7.5 mgs when combined with injectables.  So 5 mgs is a really common dose, and I would say is comparable to the 100 mg dose of clomid (based on 50 being the usual starting dose), from what I know.  And I’d stick with the obgyn if it kept my costs to $30/visit too! ๐Ÿ™‚

@MerryC:  Thanks! That’s very helpful. And also thanks for the reassurance about my decision to stick with the gyno for now. I try not to wonder if we made the right choice, especially since we really can’t afford the RE. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@bunny:  I agree – the price difference between the two is ridiculous, so while you’re focusing on meds he can prescribe, I’d stay where you are. I’d be requesting the next dose up on Femara, especially if you’ve done your research and you know what you want. You’re worth it! xx

@Jenn23:   You and I must have posted at the same time earlier — I totally missed your update. So sorry the numbers weren’t better. I don’t know what that means for you. I hope there is still hope. I am praying for you.

@Jenn23: Big hugs sweetie!!! Sending you love and positive thoughts!!

@Bunny, I took 2.5 for 5 days then 5 for 5 days. Like @Merryc, I’ve also heard about going up to 7.5. The only reason I didn’t was b/c Femara didn’t work for me AT. ALL. If Clomid got you to ovulate, I’d stick with it.
