@Mukmuk:  Welcome. Hopefully the vitamins work for you husband. I read somewhere recently about somebody who had high prolactin and got her levels down though diet changes. I think it was her on wedding bee.

It’s hard some days to stay up-beat.  Especially when you think about the time and money fertility treatment costs. I certainly wish I could get knocked up the old fashioned way and have my money back for my vacation or house fund.

@kayakgirl73:  I feel the same way about BCP. 8 years on that, only to find out exactly how tough it is to conceive! That money could’ve been used to travel to a nice, warm, tropical destination…

Thank you all for the warm words of welcome!  We decided to stick with my OBGYN for the beginning stages, but if we find a problem then she said she would refer us to an RE because she wants us to get the best care possible.  I appreciated her honesty and I like that she realizes that she only has enough expertise to cover the first steps – she won’t do more than 6 months of clomid then she refers you.

I know it has only been two days but I’m dying to know the test results from my bloodwork.  I really need work on my patience!!

@mukmuk I am sorry about DH’s SA results.  I’ll keep you in my thoughts and hopefully the vitamins will do the trick!

@Piccateer:  I don’t want to doubt your OB/Gyn but most doctors don’t want you on more than six cycles of Clomid period. I would think that you would want to head to an RE after one or two failed Clomid cycles. I got set to the RE after one failed Clomid Cycle. I have a possible blocked tube on one side, according to the HSG.  Next Cycle I will be doing Clomid and Injectible drugs, followed by IUI. I am 38 however.

Most doctors would do Day 3 bloodward for hormones like FSH, LH, Estadol, Prolactin etc. Also Ultrasound can be helpful to look at the ovaries.

It’s good that they are checking him out early.

@Mukmuk:  dont be gutted by the results quite yet. When my DH and I first went to the RE, his sperm count was 1 million, and of those 1 million, 96% of them were disfigured meaning the morphology was wrong. I was so upset that I didnt go back to the RE for like 4 months because they recommended IVF and there was no way we could afford $20,000. He finally decided to go back to the RE in October, and we found out that he had really low tesosterone and vitamin d. He’s been taking vit d and anastrazole for low testosterone. As of a couple weeks ago, his sperm count was up to 62 million, and his morphology and motility were both fine. Moral of the story: have him do baseline blood work before you panic. I could have saved myself several months of stressing.

We decided to take this cycle off. I have an appt with the RE next month to decide how many more cycles of femara with iui i will do. I’m hoping he will let me move to injectables for next cycle, but we will see. Nothing to really report here.

@Mukmuk:   Welcome to the new Ladies!!!!  Although its not where any of us want to be, its a Great sisterhood.

@Mukmuk:  Sorry, about the tests.  If you are PPO, try to setup an appt w/ an RE yourself.  RE’s schedules maybe booked solid so if you can get in in the next 3 months, you’re timing will be right.

@KoiKove:  I’m Year of the Dog as well and was hoping for a Dragon Baby.  Now I just want a baby.  So, sorry about the house.  You would think w/ the economy that their wouldn’t be soo many buyers.  And why does it take insurance to approve blood test?  How else are you going to figure out if there’s an issue.

@missmegan11:  That’s great news that SA has dramatically improved.  I’m hoping that once I find our RE that we will be on the road to our bevy of test.  I know w/ being of an Adv Maternal Age, the issues could be numerous and hopefully fixable.  If we don’t have to go the IVF route, DH is trying to get a new engine.  Crazy Boy!!!  We need to buy a house.LOL

Well, Ladies.  My HSG wasn’t as pleasurable as the first time.  I couldn’t believe that my first HSG was only in August.  It seemed like a years ago.  Well, the uterus looks great and the tubes are open.  Now, I’m waiting to get my records for my consultations.  I’m excited about my Acu appt tomorrow.  Can’t wait to hear what he thinks.   I’ll keep checking in once a week.  For some crazy reason, work has been beyond crazy busy:)

Hey Ladies, just poppin’ in to say hi! I think of you all daily and I’m rooting for you all!! 🙂

I know most of you avoid the babies threads (as I tried to when ttc as well), but we lost a Wedding Bee member, so I thought I’d let you know. She was four months pregnant and she and her fiance (and unborn baby) passed away in a snowmobile accident two nights ago. 🙁  It’s just so, so sad.  http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/fall-2012-mamas-its-a-sad-day-today

@KoiKove:  Hey there I hadn’t gotten far at all in the fertility phase.  I had a false positive back in December.  I then had a full blood work and Pap in February.  Hubby gave his sample.  My AST & ALT levels were really high which can cause miscarriages.  Could be what was the problem in December?? Who knows for sure.  I’ve been to a liver specialist and they did blood work to determine what could be the cause for the high AST & ALT levels.  My OB didn’t want us to get prego until after I was cleared from the liver specialist.  But it happened!  So that sped up the appointments with liver doctor.  If I didn’t get prego, then our next step was to do the test on the tubes to see if there was any blockage.

Bummer about the house.  I know what it’s like to get your hope set on a certain house.  We bought our house last Sept.  We had planned to build and loved this one house.  But the builder kept giving us the run around.  So we waited and found a house that we love even more!  So keep hunting!  The yoga class sounds great!

@squeak35:  Good news to hear on the uterus and tubes!

I heard back from the liver doctor this afternoon and he has a few of the blood panel results back and those look good.  He said he’ll get the rest on Monday and will call me with those results.  But he did say that my AST and ALT levels were back in the normal range which he believes that the other panels will come back good.  So nice to get some relief on that.

Everyone have a good weekend!

@missmegan11:  Thank you so much for sharing this…I think I can definitely learn a lot from the moral of the story! I’ll try to hang tight until DH does a blood test.

@squeak35:  Great idea – I think TTC is turning us all into great planners, planning activities and meetings months in advance. Hope you have a good acu appointment tomorrow!

@Piccateer:  Hope you get the results back soon!

I just got back from my acupuncturist. She says that since we’re still a young couple, DH can try the fertility vitamins for a month, and if the SA doesn’t improve, he can start TCM. She was wonderful and not pushy at all. She warned that with TCM, you have to be very disciplined, take it 5 days straight, 2 days rest for 3 months straight. If motility and morphology is still low, we will then consider IVF/ICSI. DH is going for 2nd SA next week, and will do bloodwork if needed. Even though our situation hasn’t changed, it’s still a big relief that we have a plan laid out.

On my home front, my first Acu appt was interesting.  I wasn’t super relaxed during but was in bed by 9pm.  Diagnosis: Kidney Yang Deficiency and Blood Stagnation.  Actually it make sense cause I do have the fibroids from HELL.   So, once a week treatment.  As well as I some other surprising changes that make sense: Wear socks or closed shoes.(My toes are always cold).  No dairy, red meat, or red wine.(I love cheese, yogurt and wine so this is going to be work in progress).  Chinese herbal pills 10x a day.  And I have to temp every morning.  I’m soo determined so I’m really going to follow as much as I can.

@squeak35:  Glad acupuncture went well, the first appointment was kind of weird for me, but I love it now.  I hope it works for you!

As for me…AF started yesterday :o( Onto cycle 9 for us.  DH received the order for his SA in the mail today so he is going to call and schedule that.  I really want him to have it done so that we know if there is something up with him, but at the same time I almost don’t want to know.  I am terrified basically. *sigh*
