(Closed) injured rat in driveway. plz help

@bestbuddies:  I couldnt have watched it. I cant kill flies myself. My husband knows I’m an extreme softie for any living thing. The only reason I even eat meat is doctors orders I cant eat anything that still resembles an animal in anyway though.

I’m so sad now 🙁 I would feel just as bad as you if it was me. I even feel bad for an animal that’s already dead. I was majoring in zoology and work with dogs now. I love all animals and feel horrible for any animal that’s suffering.

You’re better than me because I never would’ve made it in the house. When I pulled up and saw that, I would’ve made a u-turn and slept elsewhere. No lie. I don’t “do” rodents.

It is sweet to hear how you have a heart -even for a rat.  I have 3 pet rats and they each have thier own personality.  Prior to having them.  I never knew that rats could have a personality.

 You did the right thing. – You cared.

Find comfort in the fact that its over – you in no way should feel guilty… Death is part of life and oftentimes sweet relief for those suffering, rats included.

Feel better and know you did right by finding help for that poor creature.

im sorry you had to see this. im the exact same way. i found an injured bird at work and everyone laughed at me bc i spent hours calling around to save it (which I did). if it ever happens again, you can see if a nearby vet may take in wild animals. theres one near me that does. i keep the number saved in my phone. i also keep the number of animal control just in case. unfortunately, not everyone is so kind to animals and calling for help is often an uneccesary battle.

its great that ur such a caring person. we need more people like you around 🙂

@bestbuddies:  Oh that is so sad. I don’t know what I would have done. I probably would have grabbed a 5 gallon bucket and covered it – waited for fiance to come home and have him deal with it. It is sad though, every creature has a purpose in this life, no matter what kind of animal it is. I love animals of all kinds – even bats. People may think I am weird – but I am not – just have a huge heart for mankind and the animal kingdom and want everything to be treated with respect, so I can see why your really shook up. The feelings you have will pass – but the memory may live with you forever. Sorry.

When I was about 5 years old, I found a baby bird in our backyard. It had fallen out of the nest and didn’t even have feathers yet. My dad and I scooped it up and put it in a basket. Neither of us knew what to do and I was hysterical, so he drove me a full hour to a bird sanctuary in our area. When we got there, the lady SCOLDED us because we should have kept it warm somehow. She was horrible to me. 20 years later and I still remember how she made me feel like a bird murderer. Terrible memory.

@bestbuddies:  I don’t think it’s just a rat, and it’s ok for you to feel upset about the suffering of animals, even a rat. I’m glad it is out of misery and suffering.

Glad you and your neighbor helped that rat by reducing its suffering. If there is such a thing as karma you both earned some good karma today. Now, please go do something fun and forget all about it 🙂
