I *wish* I could say that I didn’t know any other women who similarly took a joy ride on the crazy train while preggers…

Has anyone done a study – there must be an “unrealistic sense of entitlement” hormone.

I know this sounds terrible, but if she can’t look after her children herself (even in a sad situation where hubby isn’t able to…) why is she having a second? Not everyone is able to drop everything and attend to help – or they might THINK they can, but have something change which means they can’t help. This goes above and beyond asking nicely for a little assistance with a newborn. That’s full-time caring/babysitting.

@mandypop: i do know in some cultures that for the first month the mother does very little – the Chinese call it confinement (which i would love to do if i had a baby and im not chinese) and the mother doesnt go out/do chores/eats certain foods and is taken care of by family/staff but yeah, you either pay for the privilege (ie hire staff) or have willing family to step up

@eloping: That’s interesting, I’ve not heard of it before. If it’s a cultural thing, I get it.. but wow, it still seems crazy to make a spreadsheet and demand people fill in the timespots – or automatically pencil them in to take care of her?
