I LOVE all things paper, so I feel silly that I don’t know the ‘rule’ on this, but do you have to have an inner envelope?? For all of the weddings I have attended, I know some of them have used inner/outer, but I can’t honestly remember noticing when someone didn’t… I think my invitations are going to be so cool and different that I want ppl to see them right away, not have to dig thru layers to find it! Thoughts?

nowadays, you don’t HAVE to have it. in fact my stationary woman told me that most couples don’t anymore.
i am choosing to have it because we’re having a night, formal reception with no kids i want to make sure there is ZERO confusion about who is invited and who isn’t (by putting those names only on the inner envelope).

From my understanding you don’t have to have them these days and they are more reserved for more formal invitaitons (of course if you want them you can still use them).
I’m making our paper goods and while our wedding is not formal (beach) I orginally wanted to have both envelopes. I’ve now decided to save money on envelopes and postage to just go without. Our invites really don’t need them and I feel like people wont get it anyway.

I only got inner envelopes because I wanted there to be no confusion about who is invited. I have a tight 150 cap on my guests because of the size of the venue..

I used a belly band to keep all my parts together…and stamped the names of the invited guests directly on the belly band. I don’t love the look of the outer envelopes.
