Okay new question, if you are following us and our slow house decorating process! DH has decided that he wants us to try Roman Shades. For our windows, since they’re above the sink, should we do an inside mount? Each window is 28×57 and I was thinking of using 27×64 Roman Shades. Will this work?
Would you do an inside or outside mount on Roman Shades for these windows?

They have the ones that you can get cut for free at Home Depot to fit your window perfectly. I would go with inside the window if it were me

I would measure the windows this way – outside the frame, and inside the frame – so 2 sets of measurements.
Go look at a shade/window store or section of the store, and see which you like better, inside or outside? Use the shades too, roll them up, roll them down, try them out.
I would do this before buying the shades because they will be on your windows for a very long time, and you need to be happy with them.

Inside mount for sure. It looks neater that way. I recently bought shades and blinds on line and found great price and selection. The website is SelectBlinds.com. Highly recommend them.

I prefer an outside mount, as it allows more of the fabric to show. I would use the shades as a way to throw in a punch of color or pattern, though. So if you just want something to do the basic job of covering the window, an inside mount would do the trick.

I love the look of inside mount blinds, but I’d suggest you make sure you have the depth to do it. Maybe fabric roman shades take up less space than bamboo, but I had to mount my bamboo blinds outside the window.
(I used Home Depot – for about $100 a guy will come out and measure, then come back and install. He was the one who crushed my inside mount dreams. Well worth it though.)

I always do inside mounts on shades and outside for other treaments. ie:verticles, curtains, etc.
