I am in my second cycle after coming off the pill, so please bear with me as charting is still new.
I am curious if anyone else has experienced severe insomnia (waking at the same time each night and unable to fall back asleep for two+ hours) during their luteal phase? It was extreme for the entire week leading up to my period, and abruptly stopped once I started my new cycle. Again, I am beginning to have the same issue here as I enter into the LP of my second cycle.
I am trying to decipher if this is related to the abrupt stop of hormones from the pill or if it is something that is happening as my body creates more progesterone on its own. I would also like to try to eliminate the problem naturally vs. taking melatonin or a supplement that could deter ovulation.
We are going to TTC in a few months, so for the time being I am just trying to chart and learn about my body after being on the pill for the better end of 15 years. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

BeverlyGeese: Me! It started after I got off the pill. I had been on it for 15 years as well. From what I’ve read it had to do with the progesterone.

vanike: Thanks for your reply. How long have you been off the pill? Out of curiosity, are you still having the problem? I’m wondering if is this just something I will have to deal with until my body regulates itself or if there is anything that can be done to help.
From what I have read, given the time I wake up (~2:30am), it has to do with your adrenal gland and hormones. I am worried it is going to affect my temps and charts…especially since it happened last night and FF has not given me a crosshair yet. I am going insane!

I’ve been off since January. It was defintely a problem in Jan and Feb. March I can’t really say because we were severely jet lagged then. I honestly don’t remember it being as big a problem in April. I don’t know if it sort of disappeared or I just got used to it. It shouldn’t affect your chart too much if you’re still able to get your 3 hours before temping. I ended up moving my temp time this month to 3:30 am for many reasons. One being Darling Husband used to wake up at that time coughing (and since I’ve set my alarm to that time he hasn’t) and because during my LP I’d always wake up about that time.
As for the cross hairs, are you sure you’ve ovulated?

vanike: Ok, well I am glad to know that I am not alone and hopefully it is not a permanent issue! I have been temping at 5am when Darling Husband usually gets up, so last night I definitely did not get a solid 3 hours.
As far as my o – the first cycle off the pill was relatively normal, 27 days with o on day 17. This month has been a bit funky, though. I had a minor yeast infection from cycle day 7-9, which I am sure messed with my cm (I did have some ewcm mixed in during this time). I had positive opk both CD 12 and 13, with wet cm also on day 13. However, I am on CD 16 with still no temp rise. (But not sure if today’s temp was inaccurate).
I am a long time lurker and new to posting, so not sure how to upload my chart.
Thanks so much for your help!
