I’ve been trying to go to sleep for 3 hours. No success obviously. I have a volunteer gig in 5 hours. That’s not enough sleep for me unfortunately. And adding caffeine to the mix would be a bad idea.
What to do?
I tried meditation and yoga. I am WIDE AWAKE.

Turn off EVERYTHING( except alarm for the morning).
Lay down so your comfortable.
Take 4 deep breaths
Tense your body up and slowly relax each part of your body staring with your toes going to your legs all the way to your face and head.
Taking slow even breaths.

I have anxiety and it’s the reason for my insomnia. Reading is the thing for me. Granted sometimes I get sucked in and want to continue to read, but I can’t tell you how many times i’ve fallen asleep with a book in my hand, sleep wins out lol. It’s the only think that does it for me.

I think I’m going to have to cancel the volunteer gig.
Just had some warm milk.
@brideagain3650: Books are no good. I get too into them and before I know it 2 more hours have passed.
@Torrid: I hope your leg pain goes away!
@imalittlebirdie: I tried something similar but then my mind wandered off. I kept trying to bring it back and then I worried that I wasn’t doing it right. Geez. I sound like a crazy person
I slept really well the past two nights and slept so hard I had trouble waking up. It felt like someone was forcing me to sleep. And tonight bam! Wide awake. I know that it’s because I have a lot on my mind. Upcoming trips and fun activities and things I need to email people. I’ve tried list writing when this happens but I just end up searching for a pen and fretting over Fiance worrying that he can’t sleep through my movements and noise. Even though he does.

@imalittlebirdie: My dad swears by this method (he would wake up with the quietest alarm you could imagine), and I’ve used it some too with success usually. Personally I used to think I had insomnia when I was a kid/teen, but realized my body clock is just screwed lol. I can sleep/wake up fine if it’s not normal night/morning (morning/afternoon=fine, afternoon/evening=fine). :/ For me an idea day would be about 30 hours. I didn’t have a “day job” until I was almost 30 and it’s tough! But they pay more usually… meh…. what can ya do? 🙂 Good luck! Some swear by warm milk.
