We mutually agreed that we wanted to go get married at the courthouse. So no formal proposal, no ring, and it was through text message, but two weeks later we were married! I wouldn’t change a thing.

It wasn’t a “surprise” at all. I knew it was coming and the circumstances made me think it would happen that day, but of course I could have been disappointed. He would have been silly to plan all he did (it was for my birthday) and not propose. I was in shock that it was actually happening though. I wasn’t involved in the ring, but he didn’t tell me he had ordered it (I stopped and found out- I was going crazy and I know I shouldn’t have). So I knew when it arrived. He proposed a week later.

I sent him the ring I wanted on Blue Nile. I knew he was going to do it within the next month or so, but I didn’t think it would happen so soon after I sent him the ring info. He did it while we were on a hike with friends and I didn’t expect him to do it front of others since he’s usually a private person, so I was surprised by it. But I’m glad he did since we got a photo of it!

While I hoped we would get engaged soon, I was still very surprised. We had officially entered the period where I was waiting, impatiently, but honestly thought we could still be ages away. We went for a walk after work, which we often did, and he proposed in a park we stopped in along the way. I was surprised he had gotten a ring, because besides some vague discussions about my general preferences over the past few years, and me making sure to point out rings I didn’t like in fliers haha, he hadn’t asked about anything that made me think he was thinking about it. We didn’t go shopping together etc. He picked up the ring that day (turns out he left work at noon haha), went to visit my parents to give them a heads up (not permission but to let them know) – my mom assumed he was going to wait until our trip to Costa Rica a month later and he’s like nope, think I’ll do it tonight.

Complete surprise.  It happened last Christmas Eve after we had come home from my mom and dad’s.  We were together 7 years and he had said from the beginning that he didn’t want to marry again.  We weren’t having kids so I didn’t have a huge problem with it, we have a great relationship.  I had to decide several years ago before we moved in together whether I was ok with never getting married and I decided I was fine with it provided we did the necessary paperwork (power of attorney, living will, advance directives, etc) so that we were protected should something happen to either of us.  I was shocked speechless when he popped the question.  I think I even asked him if he was sure.  He was gung ho in the wedding planning from day one but it took me a few months to wrap my head around it all because it was the furthest thing from my mind.

I voted other because I KNEW a proposal was impending (we had ordered the ring & two family events were coming up that I knew he wanted us to be able to share the news at) however I was COMPLETELY shocked and surprised (like I actually thought we was joking when he got down on one knee) because I didn’t think he had the ring yet!

We picked out the ring together, and I knew when he went and picked it up. We had an international vacation coming up, and I had told him that it would be nice to get engaged there – I’m sure he had already had that thought himself, but who knows. 🙂 I figured he would propose there, but I didn’t know exactly when/where, although I had my inklings. It was a beautiful moment nonetheless.

Not in the sense of taken off guard or shocked, no. But, it was a surprise in that I didn’t know all the details ahead of time. We had picked out the ring together and I thought that it had probably been delivered, but I wasn’t certain. If it was delivered, I suspected he would propose during our 5 year anniversary trip to London, but I didn’t know for sure that he had it. Apparently, it came 2 days before we left and he did propose in London. 🙂

It was a complete surprise. He proposed after 4 months and we hadn’t discussed it before. I said no because I wasn’t ready yet!

He bought the ring in Feb and I had no clue. We went on vacation but nothing happens, so I guess ok maybe next vacation. The day we come back from vacation he proposed when I was doing my nails at home and he came home early from his game night… so yea 100% surprise 😂

Mine was a complete surprise. Had no idea that we went for days trying to pick out the perfect ring and then took me to dinner and to a park that he knows has a special place with me for many reasons. I’m such an observant person and notice everything. So he was really good at not giving anything away ☺️

No surprise. We designed the ring together and when it arrived, I tried to wrestle it from him lol. He suggested we go to the park where he could “properly” give me the ring that day.
