I thought I was always low maintenance, but when you add up the cost of the actual maintenance you do, it really is surprising. I did this last year because I wanted to cut some costs and also cut down on the time I was spending doing all of this too because it is not easy to carve that time out, and hey, time is money too!$!
So this is what I was doing and spending last year including tips:
-Dying my own hair, mainly my roots: $40 a year ($10 dollar box 4 times per year)
-Haircuts : $150 a year (just trims with very little styling 3 times a year)
-Eyebrow threading: $139 a year (every 3 weeks)
-Pedicures: $312 a year (every 3 weeks)
-Manicures: $520 a year (every 2 weeks)
-Brazilian wax: $520 a year (every 5 weeks)
-Eyelash extensions: $635 a year (every 5 weeks)
TOTAL: $2316 or $193 a month
I cut out eyelash extensions this year and changed from Brazilian wax to bikini wax and I also do my own manicures for the most part. NEW TOTAL: $953 or $79.41 a month
I also used to do bayalage and highlights, or even the crazy purple colors, but it was getting too damn expensive so that was cut almost 2 years ago.
I do admit that I really miss my eyelash extensions and I may do them again one day. They do leave you with little of your natural lashes after you do them for a long time, but when they are on, you just feel more put together and there is less need for additional makeup. At least for me, I have very small and short lashes. I would love to do some lasering in the bikini area one day, but that is also very expensive. I also try to look for Groupons whenever I can.
I’ll attach some pics of my eyelashes. These were from two different places I tried out. The hardest part was not being able to just rub my eyes whenever I wanted π
