Hair twice a year – $1000 or $83 a month
Nails – $100 a month
Lash extensions – $100 a month
Make up – $200 a month
Skin care – $150 a month
Brows – $450 a year or $37 a month
Totaling: $670 a month which is 4.4% of my income (leaving this because another bee said she found it interesting to see this stat) which I agree with as well!

sauvblanclover : does that mean your hair appointments are $500 each? If it comes to $1000 a year for 2 appts?? Or am I reading that wrong?

sauvblanclover : Wow!!!! I’ve literally never heard of salons charging that much, maybe I’m naive. The highest I’ve ever spent for balayage was $250 (no cut) and that made me feel nauseas lol. No judgement here at all, I was just super curious. 🙂

Kings7911 : I know it’s crazy expensive lol. The stylist I use has a huge following so she just jets around to wherever her clients are. I’m crazy picky and she is definitley worth it.

sauvblanclover : honestly now that I think about it, you are likely spending less than someone who gets foils every 6 weeks and your color probably looks amazing!!!

Kings7911 : Definitley! My mother gets her hair done every 5 weeks without fail. She spends $150 a pop. I am far more low maintenance than that ( I realize that’s ironic coming from the girl spend $670 a month on beauty but its true lol!!)

zoraneale :
Hair cut every 12-16 weeks: $50 including tip.
I dye my own hair every 6-8 weeks and spend maybe $10 total (color, developer and color removal from skin if it gets on other places than my hair).
Shampoo/conditioner from Sally Beauty Supply…I wait for the liter sale and spend $20 about every 4ish months. Hairspray ~$5 and dry shampoo ~$2.90 every 1-2 months.
Nails: $25 for gel polish every 3ish weeks
Face Moisturizer: Trader Joe’s ~$3.99 every 4-6 months
Makeup: Mascara, foundation and powder every couple months….total of probably $20 every purchase. I pluck my eyebrows and the last time I bought a tweezer was probably around 2 years ago.

Hair cut – $50.00 with a tip every 6 months. Usually I get gift certificates so I don’t actually have to pay for this
Wax – $45.00 / month for brazillian and eyebrows
Nails – $80.00 including tip for shellac manicure twice a month. I do my own pedicures
Shampoo – I buy from costco and include that in my grocery budget. $20 every 4 -6 months maybe?
Facial Cleanser – I buy my products from The Body Shop and try to take advantage of their buy 2 get 1 free. So I’m usually spending around $60.00 every 4 – 6 months. But I also get gift cards for birthdays and christmas so I use those for the body shop.
Gym Membership – $46.00 a month

I get 2 mani/pedis per month at $60
Haircut is $80 every 6 months so $13 a month
Shampoo and other toiletries from the drug store $20 per month
I don’t get facials or massages unless I have a gift card
That totals to $93 per month but let’s just say $150 for makeup and face masks from Sephora so $150 a month is 0.26% of my income.
My gym membership is expensive at $150 a month but I’m not including that because that is for health reasons and to be healthy and have an active lifestyle not for looks or maintenance reasons

Even if you were to include my expensive gym membership my total would be $300 A month (this is definitely way rounded up) which is 0.5% of my salary

I consider myself to be fairly low maintenence, but I’m curious to see how this shakes out!
I get my hair colored every 6 months for around $150
Hair cut every 3 months (on an as needed basis) is about $45
Eyebrow threading/reshaping which is $20 ever 3-4 months
I invest mostly in skincare, but a jar of Khiel’s moisturizer runs me about $50 and lasts for about 6 months. I have a couple other skin treatment products I don’t use on an every day basis which totaly somewhere around $150. They’ll likely last me a year and a half.
My cleanser is a pretty basic, no-frills product I can find at Target for $12 or so.
Hell, let’s throw my gym membership in there. $30/month.
After doing the math, it costs $88.60 a month to keep all this up and running. Holy hell! Maybe not so low maintenance after all?

Let me first say that I live in a high cost of living area. I also travel pretty heavily for work (as well as for pleasure), and I’ve found that investing in the “upkeep of me” makes it easier to look good when traveling and also means I need to pack fewer toiletries/products.
Hair: cut, color, highlights every 4-6 weeks, $300 with tip.
Nails: pedicure shellac manicure & twice a month. This ranges as I travel pretty heavily for work and often get my nails done while out of town. Say, $75-150 per appointment, depending on where I am.
Eyebrow waxing: about 2-3 times a year, around $40
Leg waxing: $100, average about once a month
I get an occasional facial, but not often enough to consider it as part of my regular upkeep. I also do a bikini wax 1-2 times a year, I usually only bother with it if I’m embarking on a beach vacation. I’ve been tempted by eyelash extensions before, but haven’t gotten around to trying them yet.

valintine : Sorry i
missed this! Here are two recent pics of me. I know I don’t have makeup on with the pic with the scarf on, which is why I get facials. The one with my husband and dad I do, but not much. As far as mani and pedi, they are just plain white right now because I went to an all white party yesterday. I keep it fairly simple, I just keep them done and Neat keep in mind I’m 39, so it’s a little harder for
me to be cute with the flower of youth is gone. Hence the upkeep. I do what I can though 😝
