Discrimination is a strong word. That being said, I’m sure if she was a size two this wouldn’t have happened. If it was flagged, it might have been auto-removed without much consideration until it became public- I have no idea what their protocol is.

I think if any teen posts pictures like these on the internet, they should be removed. The girl obviously lacks judgment.

I have seen much much much more revealing photos posted by thin women, so if her account was closed (and not just the picture removed) then yeah I’d think discrimination too.

There are a couple of girls I went to high school with who are models now and their instagrams are full of lingerie and full on nudes…they obviously still have accounts though.

Hmmm… it seems more like they were doing her a favor. I would be mortified if I had a double muffin top undie shot floating around the internet.

Aquaria:  You might be able to argue that they’re doing her a favour due to her age, so long as they also follow the same procedure for all underage girls in skimpy clothing regardless of size, but this girl clearly isn’t mortified about her figure, nor should she be.

Just try to remember that’s a human there you’re speaking so cruelly of, eh? Just a thought.

Chances are it was just flagged more by the users compared to sinilar shots of girls in a size 2, which is why it was removed. In that case it was possibily discrimination, but not on Instagram’s fault.

I’m not sure why they allow underwear posts at all.  IMO that should be reserved for the lingere section of catalogues.  (I”m not an instagram fan haha)

Besides which, she looks like a sweet girl, and this shows awful judgement on her part.

turnanewleaf:  She’s 19 so not underage (unless you consider 21 to be of age? We would consider 18 when you can vote etc. here) I don’t use instagram much but if photos of slim people in their lingerie are all allowed to stay then it would seem ‘sizeist.’ If it’s just a case of instagram only deleting what comes to their attention through flagging then I can see how others would get through if no one flags them.  Are lingerie shots allowed in their TOS? Why anyone would want to have lingerie shots of them floating around on the net (unless that’s their job) I don’t know though.

Barbiestylez:  I think her point is a valid one and her argument is justified. At the same time, whether you are a size 2 or 32, underwear selfies all over the internet are just tasteless. I think instagram should remove them all.

Aquaria:  well obviously she’s not mortified which is why she posted the pictures and it’s not up to anyone else to tell her she should be mortified, that’s kinda the point of the article maybe you should read it assuming you haven’t yet. I guess some people are just more confident than others….

I do agree with other posters though, underwear selfies are all pretty tasteless no matter the size of the person in them.

Bridey77:  agreed. Someone needs to protect people with poor judgement from themselves.

I do agree though that unless this was some automatic action from flagging, size 24 people should be treated the same as size 2 people.

I’m sure it was flagged by people that didnt think it was cute BECAUSE she isn’t a size 2. People all over seem to gravitate towards what the world thinks is “beautiful.” I see it on here, IG, blogs, basically all social media.

She’s 19, it’s her decision. Instagram stuffed up, they removed it because people complained without properly verifying that it was against their community standards. That image is no more revealing than any other lingerie selfie. It’s a pity the fat police felt the need to try to get the image removed, why would you complain just because you don’t personally appreciate her physique? People suck.
