My fiance and I are huge Disney fans. We both grew up loving Disney… we even got engaged there! 🙂 I’m thinking as guests are arriving at both the ceremony and reception, having the pianist play some Disney love songs. I realize many people wouldn’t think to do this, but since Disney means a lot to us, I like it. What do you all think? Too cheesy or kiddish? Some of the songs sound really beautiful when played on a piano. Youtube search the name of the song with piano behind it and listen to some. 🙂 Here are the ones I’m thinking of so far:
“Can You Feel the Love Tonight” – Lion King
“A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes” – Cinderella
“So This is Love” – Cinderella
“If I Never Knew You” – Pocahontas
“Once Upon A Dream” – Sleeping Beauty
“A Whole New World” – Aladdin
“When You Wish Upon A Star” – Pinocchio

I think it’s great! I am walking down the aisle to a disney song played on the piano…I say, do whatever makes you happy! 🙂

I vote: awesome.
Just be totally prepared when guests start singing along cheesily… If I heard “can you feel the love tonight” I’d pretty much HAVE to belt it out, regardless of situation.
As long as you’re prepared for this, then you should totally do it 🙂

I love it! “So this is love” is an all time favourite of mine.
My only caution: “When you wish upon a star” has become a sort of generic Disney tune, not really a love song. People of my generation (in our 40s) remember it from the old Disney TV show, and it’s still played at the start of a Disney movie. Fine for the reception. I would avoid it for the ceremony intro.

I find it pretty cheesy, but cheesy isn’t always bad! I would rather have music that means something to the bride and groom than something super generic.

I don’t think it’s cheesy at all.
Then again, our first dance is to You’ve Got A Friend In Me from Toy Story, and we’re including some Pixar figures into the decor.
So i’m a kindered spirit lol

I think it’s awesome! I wish we would have encorporated Disney into our wedding!

i love the idea and actually was hoping to use a few disney songs in my ceremony (i loooove once upon a dream), but since my wedding is in a church, it wasn’t really allowed. so if you can do it, i say go for it

I totally love the idea of playing Disney songs for the wedding, and having a pianist play them for you sounds awesome!

Not cheesey! I told Alex I wanted to walk down the aisle to can you feel the love tonight, to which he responded “no! A whole new woooorld!”

Thanks for the input, Bees! I think I want to go for it! 🙂

Ha! Good for you that you found a guy who likes Disney songs. I say play them all, who cares what people think it’s your wedding day!

I did it! It was awesome and so romantic, we also went to Disney World for our honeymoon. WE used many of the same ones as you, and I included Bella Notte from Lady and the Tramp.
