bubbly2018 :  when my rosacea is acting up, I use the metrolotion once a day, sometimes even twice a day. But I have also gone long periods without using it at all, when my skin was happy and non-symptomatic. I agree about facials with zl27, they often make my skin flare as well. I just try to keep my routine as simple as possible,  and am super cautious about trying new products.  And I always use fragrance-free facial products,  added fragrance in products is a big issue for causing skin flare ups. I hope you’re able to get in to the recommended doc soon! Nothing worse than a doc that doesn’t care or doesn’t listen enough.

bubbly2018 :  I actually just had a laser treatment this morning after not having one for years, so if you have any questions, just ask! They were so effective, I was able to go a long time in between treatments.

zl27 :  Have you used any of the “calming” Skin Actives products? The prices are very reasonable! I believe I have rosacea, I’ve never been to a derm but my skins matches the common descriptions to a T.

bubbly2018 :  in 2012 and 2013, I had three or four laser treatments over that time period. I haven’t needed to get another laser treatment until now. I would have  very occasional flushing flare ups,  but they were far fewer, and easier to manage. People I worked with for years had no idea I had rosacea! My skin has started flaring more lately, so I had a laser treatment yesterday,  and am scheduled for one more next month. I’m hoping after that it’ll be several years before I need more. The pulsed dye laser my doctor uses is the VBeam, I think.

bubbly2018 :  I’ve never had any bruising. My skin feels kind of “tight” and is slightly swollen and a little pink for a day or two after the laser, but it’s pretty minor. I notice it, but it’s really not noticeable to anyone else. The aftercare instructions from my derm are to be very gentle with the skin for the first two weeks-no rubbing, gentle cleansing, no topical meds, anti-aging products, etc. And to be super vigilant about sunscreen (especially important with rosacea, and especially after laser treatments).
