I’m not a Christian, but I am 1/2 of an interracial marriage and I find it somewhat ridiculous that it’s even a topic for discussion. I’m guessing this post has to do with the church in Kentucky that won’t allow interracial couples to get married? I feel like they are in for a rude awakening when they make it to the 21st Century and find out about the marriage equality debate lol.

@vmblai1019: Yeah people need to stop using the bible to justify their discrimination. I’m not a Christian, but I’m pretty sure Jesus loved everybody. I mean, he did die for everyone’s sins and all.

@vmblai1019:  I’ll be part of an interracial marriage as well, and I appreciate your disgust with such discrimination, as well as your awareness of it.

Unfortunately, it is more common than people may think.  I believe it is a reflection of ongoing racism in general.  The election of Obama did not land is in a post-racial world of harmony, and the bigotry of the Kentucky church is just another example of this.

I did see that ( maybe it was in the article referenced about about the church in KY. can’t remember) that interracial marriages have jumped from 3% in the 80’s to 11% or somewhere in that range present day.

@vmblai1019: I read this article today and from my interpretation the resolution was passed by the previous pastor, not the current pastor. Perhaps I am reading it incorrectly?

@vmblai1019: unfortunately some people are not as open and accepting as others are. Especially in America where there is such a huge melting pot of people and opinions, you’re always going to encounter someone who doesn’t see things as you do.

To chime in on the your original question.. Yes, I know a lot of people ( Christians and non) that are God loving people but do not believe in interracial relationships  and/or marriages.

@vmblai1019: Agreed.  No matter which pastor allowed it, it is awful.   The fact that the woman was an active member in the church, and they were banned after worshipping there together, makes it all the more reprehensible.

Yeah I guess I just don’t care if people personally have a problem with my interracial marriage but I dont think it’s fair to discriminate. I feel the same about same sex marriage. Well really any marriage. Like why does it bother you who the hell I’m married to as long as it’s not you? ha.

Its just racist people in the Appalachain area using ” Religion” as a way to express their feelings.

I consider myself a Bible scholar, and a follower of Christ- I have yet to find a place where Christians believe this as true or docternally accurate. I am also technically ” interracial” .

A racist being a ” Christian” is nothing new.

@Eva Peron: Yeah I like how they’re basically racist but in one of the articles I read it said they aren’t because they will allow any race to come but just not allow interracial couples.

That is still racist to me!
