I was listening to a talk show from the States (one of their local talk shows). The host was talking about holiday engagements. Men and women were calling in to discuss their Christmas engagement stories.
It was interesting to hear how many men proposed on December 27th! Why? Because they wanted it to be a surprise since most women expect a Christmas engagement. They also didn’t want it to seem like the ring was a Christmas gift!
So, waiting bees – if it doesn’t happen on Christmas, it might happen after!

OMG!!! This is absolutely what I am fearing!!! My SO let it slip that he bought a ring and I was getting it for christmas!! Now I’m worried that he won’t actually propose on Christmas morning because he knows I’ll be expecting it. This week has been the longest week of my life.

Hm. I wonder why not the 26th?

Not to be a downer, but that’s probably a smart idea. Statistically, some of those engagements are going to break up, and if the ring is a Christmas gift (intentionally or not), I don’t think he’d be able to get it back if she were unwilling.

So true! We got engaged 2 days AFTER Valentine’s Day! I was a little disappointed that he didn’t propose on the 14th, but the 16th definitely made it a surprise! 🙂

This is a good idea but I will die if I don’t have the ring by Christmas Day. I know he has it and patience has never been a virtue of mine. 🙂

My family has bets going on that my SO will propose for Christmas, but he said it def won’t be a Christmas engagement. Part of me thinks that maybe he’s trying to throw me off so it will be a suprise, but I’m trying to be rational. If he said it won’t be for Christmas it won’t be, right? I’m trying to enjoy Christmas and put the engagement out of my mind. Easier said than done! 🙂

That is interesting. We got engaged four days BEFORE Christmas…so you never know!

totally off topic but As soon as I thought he might have the ring, I went into full hair and makeup mode everyday. By day 4 he was like, whats wrong with you??? So I told him I wanted to be really prepared for whenever it might happen, and couldn’t stop laughing at me. Christmas morning, I will definetly have bed head and no makeup on, I don’t think my children have the patience to wait for me to get ready before we open up gifts. 😛
