Because I overthink everything. I applied for a job about a month ago, it is my absolute dream job! Monday they reached out to me with a quick question about my cover letter, I answered right away and she said that she hoped to be in touch soon to set up an interview. I still haven’t heard anything and the posting has been taken down am I still in the running? A friend of mine knows about the practices at this place and said they are super slow but I am still going crazy. What does the bee think?

My fiance applied for a job, they called to say they’d call for an interview later that week, and it took over three weeks for them to call. By then he’d taken another job and he was clearly a candidate high on their list because they called twice, even though he wasn’t interested in the job any longer, so you could still be someone the company you applied to is really interested in. I’d recommend not worrying yet, but hey you’re a free person, I’d definitely keep applying to other jobs if you haven’t already. Good luck!

There’s virtually no rhyme or reason to hiring. You could be off the list completely, or be their top choice. There’s honestly no way at all to have any idea unless one of us happened to work for their HR. No two companies are exactly the same.
Do you read Ask a Manager? If not, I highlt recommend it. Amazing blog about hiring and workplace etiquette. It was so helpful to me during my recent search, including paranoia about interviews and offers.

I’m in same position as you. I applied for great job position in July and I got teased about the job position with recruiters calling me but never set up an interview . I reapplied in November and finally got an interview and was told I’ll hear something last Thursday or Friday but haven’t. I hope I hear something tomorrow but worried I might have to take another job offer cause I can’t wait forever. I am feeling extremely disappointed but hope I still have a chance.
I hope you hear something soon.
