We were thinking about having a very small morning reception — 11:00 a.m. It would be his mom, dad, brother, brother’s wife, their son, my daughter, my mom, my dad, my two sisters, my niece, my aunt, my cousin, my two grandmas and my grandpa. So 16 guests maximum. It would be a short ceremony, maybe 30 minutes max, and then we’d go for a nice light lunch afterwards to celebrate.
Then we’d have a larger dinner reception around 6 for the extended families and friends (about 130 guests total, including the people who came to the ceremony).
Everyone who will be at the ceremony lives in the area, so traveling or finding something to do between lunch and reception won’t be a problem. And honestly, my grandparents probably won’t come to the reception, so this gives them a chance to see me get married and celebrate with us without having to deal with a huge party and lots of noise. What do you all think?
(I also pitched the idea of taking our honeymoon after the ceremony and having the big reception when we came back. Fiance isn’t sold on that yet, but I’m working on it, haha.)
