My partner and I live in SEQLD after immigrating from Ireland a few years ago. We would really love to have an intimate wedding (20 or so people – intimate to us lol) and have thought about the idea of Whitsundays, Hamilton Island etc. I am basically hoping that someone here could give me REAL honest feedback about a wedding there – e.g I have heard some bad stories about weddings being qued one after another on the beach. I just wonder if this is worth the money….the nicest part of the world I am sure but would you recommend it?
Also seeking recommendations on venues etc for the wedding and reception. I would prefer to have everything in the one venue or a very short walk to the reception venue.
Thanks in advance!!

MissAM: I will be honest and say I cringe anytime someone sends an invite to a wedding in those locations. It is beautiful but as a guest it is freaking expensive, especially for a weekend. I mean it is expensive up there regardless of a wedding.
The weddings I have been to have been nice and whilst I don’t know what the couples actually spent (I will assume above average cost per plate) the meals have been pretty standard as far as wedding meals go.
At one wedding there were other couples waiting but for the others I don’t remember but they were in shoulder season and at odd start times (morning or night rather than afternoon/evening).
You might get more responses on an Australian wedding site like easy weddings or the knot australia.

There is a very beautiful little chapel in Port Douglas. Never been to a wedding there, just visited.
