I lost my yellow lab Bella July 2013 at the age of 8 to osteosarcoma. After my wedding this July, my husband and I started entertaining the idea of getting another dog. I was reluctant, as i did not want to compare the new dog to Bella. We decided on a chocolate girl. Meet Pippa. Healing my heart one day at a time.
Here is a pic from when we picked her at the breeder at 6 weeks old.
Here she is at home (8 weeks old)

Be still my heart! When I was a kid, my first dog was a chocolate lab, so there’s a special place in my heart for these cutes. Pippa is such a sweet name, and look at her all flopped on her bed! Aww lucky parents 🙂

LoveLikeCrazy: EEEEEEEEE!! She is so, so, so stinking CUTE! I wish I could reach through the computer to pet and hug her. (Although that would be totally creepy. And it sounded waaaay more stalker-ish and weird typed out that it did in my head. Yikes! o.o)
What a beautiful, beautiful girl. I’m super happy for you that you were able to take the plunge to get another puppy after losing your Bella. It’s so hard to get over the loss of a pet. I had a Springer for a long, long time. I grew up with dogs, but he was my first “on my own” dog. I raised him from a puppy, and he was the first inside dog I ever had, too. He went all the way through graduate school with me, as well as several years of LDR between Darling Husband and I right after we married (because of work). And he was there with me through many frustrating years of heartbreak while we were TTC, too. He passed several years ago, at almost age 15. For about 5 years, I resisted getting another Springer because I was afraid I would compare the new dog to my old one. And, really, I just wanted my old dog back. But I would cry every time I saw a Springer. Finally, Darling Husband said: “Enough!” And he told me to find a Springer puppy. I wouldn’t have done it if he hadn’t pushed me into it, and I’m so glad he did. I think what you wrote about your heart healing is so true. That’s the way I felt, too.
(Wow. Sorry for the super long response. >.O)
