  • We have just moved to Northamptonshire from Aberdeen!

  • Originally from South Lincolnshire/Rutland

  • We are Engaged!

  • A doctor and a children’s nurse – met at school though!

  • Not yet, want to be ourselves for a while first!

  • Will do next summer in South Lincolnshire/Leicestershire (ceremony and reception in different places!)

  • I feel like they’re more traditional but that’s probably because I’m from here!

  • I really like Edinburgh, it has the best atmosphere especially at certain times of year!

  • I love the Cairngorms if you like outdoorsiness. There are lots of things you can do in beautiful places; just walking or quad biking, pony trecking or kayacking on a Loch with beautiful views and so peaceful! Also skiing.

We are looking for a ceilidh band in the midlands but since we have just moved here we do not know of any and have been finding it hard to get any recommendations so if any of you guys have any recommendations or people to avoid that would be brilliant please! Thank you!

Hello Bees!! Excited to be here and get to know you all πŸ™‚

I’m on my work PC (naughty) and it won;t allow me to copy and paste for some reason, so I’ll just type out the anser to the questions –

                      • From Watford (Near London) born and bred!
                      • I’m a waiting bee, although I do know my OH has the ring, it’s just a question of when he will pop the question – Very frustrating!! However we go on holiday next week, so fingers crossed..
                      • I work for the local council (housing association) as a repair planner, which means I plan the days work for our carpenters/plumber etc. My OH is in the police force (yes the handcuffs do get used occasionally πŸ˜‰
                      • No kids, but defo both want them in the future
                      • Not decided where to get married yet – have my eye on a beautiful old mansion house that is quite local to us, but didn’t want to get ahead of myself before the ring is actually on my finger.
                      • They seem to have younger brides in the US – I’m considered quite young to be getting engaged over here (22) but in the US it seems the norm to get married younger?
                      • Love Brighton – it’s special to me and the OH, also where I chose my engagement ring on a valentines weekend away
                      • Reccomend Brighton and Bounremouth
                      • I don’t watch much TV but I love come dine with me!!

I’ve been a reader for 4 years but only started finding my way around the boards recently. As for the introductions:

                      1. Whereabouts in the UK do you live now? (just your county will do if you’re not comfortable being more specific)  London (the suburban south-west)

                      2. Whereabouts in the UK (or elsewhere) are you from originally? Cambridgeshire. I really miss the peace and quiet sometimes!

                      3. Are you married, engaged or one of our waiting bees? I’m a waiting bee, although SO and I have talked about marriage a lot. We’re prioritising our mortgage at the moment πŸ™‚

                      4. What do you and your SO do for a living? I’m in the engineering industry and my partner is in advertising.

                      5. Any kids? Nope. Someday, but not yet.

                      6. Where did you/where will you get married? No idea! I’d love a rustic, outdoors-y style reception though.

                      7. What do you think is most different about UK weddings to other countries’ weddings? In the US there seem to be a lot of pre-wedding get togethers – showers, rehearsal dinner etc. And the garter toss… I think that would make me really uncomfortable! I really love hearing about the different traditions though!

                      8. What’s your favourite UK city? Edinburgh. Hands down.

                      9. Can you recommend any good UK holiday locations? (Aside from Edinburgh) Falmouth, Cornwall. Quaint, pretty seaside town, big enough to spend a good few days there. Fantasic ice cream πŸ™‚

                      10. What are your favourite UK TV programmes? Strictly Come Dancing and Don’t tell the Bride (or ‘That awful bride’ as my SO so often says!)
