It’s not normal, but I’m wondering how much you actually let her participate. Maybe she just wants something to do and it’s coming out all weird. Did you have her help you decide what guests from her side to invite? If this isn’t the problem and it’s just her being b*tchy then you need to start setting boundaries. Have your Fiance mention that it’s kind of embarrassing for her to act this way or something along those lines and maybe she’ll understand that it’s not ok.

Hm, sounds like she’s got some role confusion going on.  My Future Mother-In-Law has taken a back seat  and luckily sees our wedding as something my parents are hosting and therefore stays out of it!   I do ask her from time to time to help with certain projects and she just loves that—I try to keep her posted on our major decisions.  Once, she did ask how much the wedding would cost and I chose to not tell her (feeling like that was my parents business).  Perhaps your parents could ask Future Mother-In-Law to back off a bit–that way they’re the “bad guys” and not you?  SOunds like Future Mother-In-Law needs to be reminded of who the hosts are.  Good luck
