I am recently engaged and I am currently scouring the internet for inspiration. I came across these invitations and I love them. I am just wonder what is the average cost for invitations for a wedding that range from 100-175 people? My parents are assisting with the cost but I really want to do as much DIY as possible to keep the cost down. I found these invites on etsy that I LOVE but I just don’t know if they are worth the cost or more importantly, if I can replicate them in some way and have them be way cheaper. Thoughts? Ideas? Opinions? HELP!
This is the invite I love:

I budgeted $5 per person for invites, but they ended up being much cheaper – even with pocketfolds. I think I’m spending around $300 for 100 invites (we’re inviting 150 people). We got ours printed professionally, but I designed them and we’re assembling them ourselves.
If you just got engaged, hold off on thinking about invites for a while. Save that listing somewhere you can find it again, but give yourself a few months to let your wedding evolve and determine if it still fits. You may find that closer to the date you like something better.

@toshella: Thanks, that is really helpful! Yeah, you are right about saving things to decide on later. I am just collecting ideas but I also want to be realistic from the start so I know what is and isn’t a reasonable price. Thanks again!

We spent $50.00 total on 80 invitations. 2 boxes of 40 count each of Brides.com invitations from Michael’s and they were on sale. They’re usually about $40-50 each and we got them %40 off. We invited about 120 guest (remember you only need 1 per household – I was thinking total headcount). I was able to print them out on my home computer & it was easy & I loved them. The kit came with invitation, ribbon, rehearsal dinner invite, response cards – everything we needed. I actually spent more on stamps ($80.00) than I did on the invitations.
I also agree collect ideas but keep looking. As your colors and ideas come together you may find something that fits perfectly. I started ripping out things from magazines and putting them in a folder.
Regardless there’s an inexpensive way to do but I put aside $250 for my invitations, save the date & thank you’s in my budget. We’ll just meet it but don’t forget about stamps! I did.

I don’t know if you would consider DIY but VistaPrint has a Living Social deal right now, $10 for $50 and you could order the pocket folds from somewhere and put it all together?
