Hi, Ladies!
I’ve been working on a “unique” monogram for my fiance (M) and I (C). It’s our initials intertwined in a Celtic heart, and decorated with damask print. Our color is cornflower blue, and we are doing gold and damask accents throughout the wedding. I wanted opinions on the monogram though… is it too much? My fiance and I like the elaborate, elegant look but my sisters aren’t fans.

Maybe if the heart was in a different color?

This is probably the 50th version, and we finally settled on all black because it looked the nicest… It used to be solid blue letters with a silver heart, but that looked silly. I’ll keep trying colors to see if that helps though.

@echopkb: I agree. I think if it was a different color you could see everything better. It looks a little jumbled as is. Overall I like it though.

Here’s an older version of it with a silver heart:

I actually find it a bit confusing, it took me a bit to find the initials. With them in the damask pattern, they look too much like the things on the top and bottom. I’d probably put the initials in black and the heart in damask.

Hmm okay… here’s a rough draft of it with one of the accent colors… does it look better? (I’m not wild about the heart color, so I’ll definitely keep playing with that.) Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Edit: Here’s a blue heart with an outline:

i’m having a hard time with this design because damask is so flowy and fluid and the celtic design is so rigid and straight. i think that is why yhe eye rejects it. i don’t think it has anything to do with the colors, really… maybe try doing a celtic fliigree heart?

First of all, WOW! I wouldn’t even know HOW to begin creating something like this!
What if you make the damask in the letters your accent color and keep everything else black and white?
