I was wondering if anyone out there has experience with making an invitation belly band out of non-paper options such as ribbon, twine, thread, or elastic cord? Any tips/lessons learned?
We have a pocketfold invite that’s a little heavy, and I’m just realizing that I think it needs some kind of closure. I want to keep it looking very minimalist and elegant/black tie. I looked into wax or faux-wax seals…but I’m really not confident about those getting through the mail and opened properly. I’d really like to find an alternative to the classic paper/vellum band… I’m curious about using metallic thread or metallic elastic cord, but I’ve never seen it done.
I want to keep the envelopes flat and simple, so I don’t want to make bows, but I was thinking maybe just wrapping something severaltimes and doing a small knot, glueing, and/or adding some kind of flat charm or fancy button?
