Need some help on dates for my invitations 🙂
Wedding is July 17, 2010.
When should they be sent out?
When should our RSVP date be?
Our hotel block gets releashed to the general public on June 16th.
I was thinking of sending the invitations out at the beginning of May and having the RSVP date June 1st but I don’t think that’s enough time is it?

That should be plenty of time. Hopefully your Out of Town guests will start looking into hotels as soon as they get their STDs.
Personally (because our weddings are a day apart!) we sent our invites out last week. But only because 80% of our guest list live out of the country internationally and we didn’t want to do STD’s. We set our RSVP date as May 1st because we need to get numbers to our venue by early June and we’re DIYing a lot of edibles, like the cake and favours – and we’d rather not make much more than we’re expecting!

Hey, we have the same date 🙂
I’ve already sent out the invitations in November, but we didn’t have STDs. But if I would have had STDs I would send out the invitations in the end of April.

6 weeks before the wedding is the rule-of-thumb. If you have people that are coming from far away that have to fly and reserve rooms sending out a “Save the Date” is good, you would want to do that maybe at the end of April or Mid March.

You should be fine 6-8 weeks; all depends on number of out of town guests, did you send out STD and how soon the venue requires a final headcount. Also remember to give yourself enough time to track down those who miss rsvp deadline

I think sending out the invites on that date is fine. You might want to give yourself a little bit more time for an RSVP date. Like maybe an extra two weeks to get in contact with people who failed ot RSVP and to give your vendors your final head count.

Yes we sent out STD’s on January 1st.
Venue needs final numbers a week before the wedding so we should have the RSVP’s by July 9th (the Friday).
So we could send out the invitations at the end of April/beginning of May and have the RSVP date by June 15th (that gives time to follow up with ppl who didn’t RSVP)

That’s a perfect timeline. 6-8 weeks to send invites is normal with the RSVP date about a month before. That gives you time to track down non-RSVPers and do a seating chart if you’re doing it.

My wedding’s July 17th, too!
We just ordered our invitations yesterday, with our RSVP cards saying to respond by 06/19. That’s a month before, which I think is fine, plus there’s the 4th of July weekend, so we wanted to make sure there was time for them before that to respond.
I haven’t decided when to send them out yet, but I was thinking end of April-ish. That gives guests almost 2 months to send the RSVP. I don’t know if it’s right, but that’s what felt right to me. =) I want time to track down the non-RSVP-ers, just in case. =)

Thanks everyone! That helps a lot. I was really unsure about these dates 🙂
