So, just looking for advice in handling this situation…
Back when I just got engaged my cousin said she was interested in helping with invitations, she’s a graphic designer. She hadn’t brought it up in six months so i just sort of let it go/forgot. I feel guilty putting that much work on her (we’re having 500 guests = LOTS of invites). The other day she called me and said how is it going/what am I thinking for invites?
Now, I’ve got a wedding planner and that was the initial part of wedding planning, getting some ideas on design for invites to inspire the rest of the wedding. I like her designer, except she sent me like 15 different confusing estimates and didn’t give me any actual paper samples after i asked several times. We still haven’t actually agreed to anything, even after i said I would pay her for some physical samples since she didn’t seem keen on providing any mock ups or ANYTHING before I committed to it – though I didn’t want to commit to a price because i didn’t know what i was getting. I’m still waiting on paper samples in the mail.
Meanwhile, within two days, my cousin has done a digital mock-up and found a local printer who can provide the super heavy cotton paper I wanted at a reasonalbe price. I love her design, we have similar taste.
Now, I want to use my cousin’s work since she’s super excited about it and i love her and seeing her enthusiam makes me feel less guilty about it. However, i’ve semi-committed to my wedding planner’s designer though we aren’t that far into the process – I just don’t want to upset any relationship between them.
How would you recommend I handle this?
