I looked online for invitations. WHOA! Most things in weddings are pricey but I didn;t realize just how pricey invitations were.
I hear a lot of people doing DIY invites. For the last three weeks, I’ve been searching, googling, researching and I just don’t get it.
How do you all get these templates, customize, print, cut, etc.? I know how to search the web, email people and post on blogs and boards like these, but other that that, I’m a dummy when it comes to publishing and photoshop.
I think after the design, I can figure out to do put together a suite, but this template thing, is mind-boggling!
Please help! 🙂

I found a site that has the templates (that she’ll customize for like $7) and then you print and cut them and put them in envelopes: http://printableinvitationkits.com/customize/
wedding chicks is also good and they have lots on there to choose from: http://www.weddingchicks.com/freebies/invitation-suites/fun-retro-invitation-suite/
but then I still thought-eh, too much work, so I am doing vistaprint, I might add something to them after they’re printed, but this was the best bang for my buck, using a living social coupon.
there are some good tutorials on here, just search diy invite or something like that.

You can always do semi-DIY by buying a digital invitation design. Just search Etsy for ‘printable wedding invitation.’ Most run less than $50. Or here are some free templates.
If you want to design something yourself, I am a big fan of Powerpoint. It is software about everybody has and has a lot of nice shapes and alignment things built in. Find a design you like online (try something geometric) and see if you can replicate it.
Here are a couple STD designs I came up with in Powerpoint:
