So here is a mock-up of our invites. They need to go out this week and I definitely don’t have time to start from scratch. I do like them, but something about them feels a little too amature for my taste. Any advice on making it a little cleaner/professional-looking? I apologize for the blurry photo, and the real invites will have a pale cream instead of the white paper. In addition, the fish stamping is also a bit neater/well-spaced on the real copies.

I think they are cute, yes they are a little “amatureish” (and I only say that for lack of a better word). But I like it, it shows that you put in effort and made them yourself.
If you trying to change the look a bit, what about a belly band around it in the green to tie that colour in? Or maybe try using a patterned paper, and using a little less stamping?
I wouldn’t worry about your guests thinking they don’t live up to sratch, I am sure they will appreciate the effort involved.

They’re cute! Love the fish! Maybe try putting the “and” on it’s own line?
Together with their families
or how about a second layer of green below the invite? But I do agree with Firie, your guests will appreciate all the effort invoved 🙂

I like the little fish! I like what Firie said about adding a patterned paper or a belly band. What about a green patterned paper in between the yellow background and the white paper? Something with polka dots would look nice and whimsical with what you have.

Thanks for the advice ladies. I actually ended up not trimming down the white nearly as much…there was about an eighth of an inch of yellow showing on each side. This made a HUGE difference. I really hated the way the above invitation looked, but I was very pleased with the ones I mailed out yesterday. I’ll try and repost a pic.

I wish I had seen the comment about giving the ‘&’ its own line before I mailed them out. That would have looked better. Here it is, revised…nothing fancy but it works for me. Again, I apologize for the blurry pic but my cell phone is ancient.
