Hi, I’m new to this board and site. I love all the great ideas I have found on here.
I am working on putting together invitations for my wedding. I’m trying to figure out the style and costs associated with it.
I know for a panel invitation, I would mount the invitation onto another piece of card stock. Now for pocketfolds, do I need to mount the invitation on a piece of cardstock then tape it to the pocketfold? Can I just tape the invitation directly to the pocketfold? I would like to use ivory cardstock for the invitation and a dark red for a pocketfold. Thanks!

You don’t really have to do two layers if you don’t want to. Also, many people use glue dots or double sided tape to stick the layers together, because it’s basically mess-free. Good luck!

I understand why people would want to layer their invitation if it’s not pocketfold but I guess I don’t get why it’s layered if you are taping to the pocketfold. I’m wondering if there is a reason or is it’s based on preference.

I think it’s just another way to work in an accent color. Totally preference, I’m sure.

I would go with glue dots. They are awesome and so easy to use.

I’m sure it’s base don preference. Instead of layering ours, we’re just gonna have a border printed around them. It’s save a few bucks at least!
@Laboroflove- Gluedots are a great idea! I actually have some and now I’m wondering why i didn’t think of that too haha

Thanks! I was wondering if it was done to hide the tape or something.

@Nlmiele – DO NOT use rubber cement! I received a pocketfold invitation glued with rubber cement and it looked awful. Everything dried wavy. Definitely go with glue dots or double sided tape. They don’t need to dry so your paper will stay crisp. Just a warning! 🙂

Its based on preference, the extra layering can add alot to the invitation. Our pocketfolds were a brown/bronze and the actual invitation was printed on ivory cardstock. I wanted it to pop a bit so I used a teal cardstock as the matting. Definitely use double sided tape, it works the best. Check out local crafting and scrapbooking stores and get some quality tape so you dont have to worry about them coming undone. Some brands of double sided tape wont cut it, especially depending on how heavy your cardstock is and how many layers you have.
