Hello! Recently engaged but just started looking. One catalog for invitations includes invite, RSVP and reception inserts. I’m on board with those. But they also list “thank you” and “informal.” One, I don’t know what the heck the informal is. And am I the only one who thinks thank you cards with the invitation is weird? What am I thanking them for, exactly? They haven’t attended yet!

I think that the Thank You cards are for later, but that you would order them with the invitations so they are the same design for the stationary. I do not know what informal is…

the thank you cards are for after the wedding, you can get them separate, but they include it in your invite sets to match! 🙂
i’m not sure what the ‘informal’ is referring to! 🙂

You’re not supposed to send thank you notes with the invitation…they are for after the wedding, they just match the rest of the paper suite.
The informal card is for any extra info you may need to include, such as directions.

DUH!!! That never occured to me (obviously) that the thank you cards aren’t intended to be part of the invitation mailing. Thank you!
I feel both slightly lame and glad to have that resolved for me!

Lots of brides get very obsessed with being matchy-matchy. Some invitations also have coordinating menus and place cards.

Actually the informal is to show guests how your name is to appear post wedding. Basically in black ink you print Mrs. First Last if you’re changing your name. First Last if you’re not changing it because technically you’re only allowed to use Mrs. if you are taking your husbands last name. I had no idea what they were until about a month ago either. And the PP’s are correct, the thank you notes are for after the wedding.
