Any ideas for the first part of my invitation? Except for my mom (who I don’t have a relationship with) all of our parents havepassed away and we are paying for the entire wedding ourselves. This is what I like so far:
NEW YEARS EVE
December 31, 2012
Half past six in the evening
Where do I include black tie optional?
Thanks fr your help!

Just a note: Since you wrote out the time, the date should read Saturday, the thirty-first of December.
I would probably write:
request the pleasure of your company
on their wedding day

I know Martha Stewart has a TON of ideas for sensitive situations such as yours. It was helpful with deciding the wording for our invites as well, eventhough ours will be somewhat traditional. She had postings for situations from traditional to non-traditional and EVERYTHING in between. Good luck! It’s not that hard once you find the first line then the rest seems simple enough..
