Sorry, just wanted to pop in and recommend checking out Etsy — you might find better prices…and even be able to splurge for a part- or total letterpress suite!

I am making my entire invitation suite, so I should get started pretty soon (probably next month)! I’m using materials from Paper Source, so enclosures, belly bands, lining the envelopes! All the fun stuff!! I wanted to emboss a little motif I had created, and even had a custom stamp made for it, but the cardstock and the ink did not get along at all! So I’m going back to simply laser printing my invites and doing layers of paper.  I would love to do a letterpress suite, but that is just not in my budget! I’m probably going to send them out just after the new year since I’m an early March wedding!

I’m not getting married until 2012 and I’ve already made a mock-up of our (completely) DIY invites! =) I’m a paper nerd.

I would recommend giving yourself at least a month (four weekends) to get them all done — so basically, start PRODUCING (which means you’ll have to have the printed part done already) 2.5 to 3 months before your wedding.

@ Miss Hot Sauce – That was exactly the problem! My invites (the text part) are going on a pearlescent paper, and I got GREAT results on plain cardstock, and even better results on the basic printer paper. I think I might just use the stamps now on thank you cards or the envelopes for some additional *umph* I don’t want to risk messing up a bunch of times and having to keep printing more cards!

I have the ColorBox ink pad which I was told was supposed to be the best for stamping and embossing…

Thanks for the info, I would be interested in what the name of the pigment ink is though…for other projects!!

We bought the invitations and need to have them printed. I haven’t even started asking about how much it will cost. I probably should get started but we haven’t set a time yet.

We are actually about a week late already in ordering our invites and I have to comment on your post to mention those are high prices. We are actually considering a letterpressed set from Encore for 50 invites and with response cards its about $500 however we saw many nice selections from other brands (ask your local invite store to show you everything in your budget) if you are in Miami I recommend Invitations by Leston because he totally understood what we wanted to get for our money and not at one single moment tried to sell me anything – Ernesto was great to work with.

Just my 2C.

I am getting mine from Invitations by Ajalon… they run a really great Letterpress Special periodically and mine were $350 for 100 invitations, envelopes, and RSVP postcards. I thought it was a pretty spectacular deal. They should be coming in the mail tomorrow, if UPS is right. 🙂

I bought my invitations last weekend! We purchased Save the Dates through WeddingPaperDivas and they send me different coupons and stuff. They had a special which ended yesterday for buy 75, get 25 free. We got 100 invitations (w/envelopes), 100 rsvp cards(w/envelopes), 100 reception cards, and 100 thank yous for $400. I thought about buying the boxed kind from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby but realized I don’t have the patience for mess-ups…

We had planned to be married August 2010 and I had the design printed and embossed and just needed to add the info. I was super excited to use my Gocco and I just love crafts!

Yay 3/13/2010!   I am sending mine out in a month because its a destination wedding.  I already got my invites back from Paper Consultants, they came out amazing and delivered them 2 weeks early.   I am not crafty so I needed to order them with jacket already.  They are the coco del mar, and have a ribbon on the front flap.  I also did two note cards, the total came out to $900 for 100 with thermography.  I scoured the web for a month and they had the best prices.  If you see something you like, I can attest the service is great.
