is it ok to put “cocktail hour and reception to follow ceremony. adults only respectfully” on the invite? I know some put “reception to follow ceremony” but is it ok to add in the cocktail part? Maybe we should just put “cocktail hour and reception to follow ceremony” and leave out the adults only part and put on the RSVP card? please help!!

Hmm…we are going to puc something like “reception immediately following” I think people understand that there is usually a cocktail hour…as for children, I wouldn’t write that. We are choosing not to invite children to the entire wedding…and so we will indicate this by addressing the invites ONLY to the adults. I think it would be too confusing to invite children to the ceremony but not the remainder of the event…and too difficult for the parents. Again, it should be indicated that children are not invited based on the invite:
“The Smith Family” means that you want to include the whole family, kids and all.
“Mr and Mrs Michael Smith” means you are just inviting the adults.

ok we wont put cocktail hour. You are right its part of reception.
but we need to put adults only somewhere. My friends and family will not even look at who its addressed to 🙂 What if we put “respectfully, adults only” on RSVP card so that they will see it right before they RSVP?
