If the wedding is formal, I think you’re supposed to hand write the invitation.  Yes, you should specify “in the evening” or “pm”…there are some that have sunrise weddings!

I am going through the same thing. I read on a wedding etiquette website that you can write “at seven o’clock in the evening” or leave “evening” out since this should be considered obvious to your guests. The website also states that you should never write “AM” or “PM” on a formal invite. I would also go with hand written especially if it’s an evening formal wedding.

Here is the website line for line on a formal invite plus an example. Not sure if this website is totally correct, but it seems on par w/ other etiquette websites:http://www.einvite.com/info/etiquette?segment=wording-your-invitation

I agree I didn’t want to do hand written either to save on money. But, I have one friend that just got married and another about to get married and they both have formal weddings and they say you need to. On the other hand, you don’t have to go with what other people say because in the end only the wedding guests that are “etiquette” snobs will really notice (i.e. older guests, just married or other brides-to-be). I just lucked out and my mom’s secretary used to do calligraphy for wedding invites as a hobby and offered to do ours.

1. yes, add “in the evening”

2. yes, although hand writing is preferred/more traditional, using stickers with a nice caligraphy font is ok for that many invites. (we are in the modern age after all)

Wow!  350 invitations!?!  So you are having a wedding with approximately 700 people?  Congrats!
