- Wedding: June 2014
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice please.
I am getting married in June next year. We are having a destination wedding in Spain, we live in the UK. We are wanting to keep the wedding quite small so we are having 50 guests, 25 each.
I know that normal practise is to send save the dates out first and then invitations a couple of months before the wedding but I’m wondering if I can scrap the save the dates and just do invitations instead. The reason being that some of my friends are currently single and have made enquiries as to whether they start dating somebody before the wedding, will they be invited. I have said no as we want to keep the numbers to 50 and because wedding is only small, we just want people there that we know. Also some other family members that I don’t see more than once every 2 years or so assume that they are coming but aren’t. We are having a big party once we get home so extended friends and family will be invited to that. We expect around 150 people for that party.
My worry is that if I just send out save the dates, people may just assume they are coming/can bring a date etc. Flights for next June come out in September, so I wanted to make sure all the guests are able to book their flights as soon as they come out to keep their costs down. So, do you think I should just do named invitations by mid August to allow fights to be booked in September, or follow normal practice and do save the dates and invitations to follow next year?
Thanks in advance x
