i dont see an issue with sending out the invites that early – you are doing it for a very good reason! we have family in the bahamas so we sent everything out super early too, flights and travel take planning and money so the sooner people know dates and details the better IMO.

you could do save the dates for your wedding party though – also that may stop any assumptions people have about being invited to your wedding in spain.

Save-the-date notices are a relatively recent addition to the wedding world and absolutely are not required. Many of us deliberately chose not to send them for the very type of reason you noted: It’s often difficult to finalize your guest list so far in advance, before the budgeting and much of the planning have been done. I had a semi-destination wedding on a holiday weekend and did not send Save-The-Date Cards.
