@Jw1724:  I would invite the SO’s to the dinner. They need not attend the rehearsal, but often would because they may be driving their SO.

The polite thing to do is invite the bridal party and their significant others to the rehearsal dinner.

Rehearsals normally only last 20 mins it’s really just more the dinner.  If they are getting plus ones to the wedding I would say they are significant enough to come to the rehearsal dinner.

@Jw1724:  I would invite them with their SO’s. My FI was in a wedding last year and I wasn’t invited to the rehearsal dinner. Very annoying since the wedding was about a 2 hour drive so I ended up just sitting alone in the hotel all night. The groom also sent out a text saying, “Just a reminder- significants others are NOT invited to the rehearsal dinner”. I thought it was really rude.

But you are still killing an evening for them.  Why is it any different than if the rehearsal is the night before the wedding?  You would invite them then, and you really should now.  It is part of the courtesy and thank you to your attendants. If they are allowed to bring these dates to the wedding they should be allowed to bring them to the rehearsal.

Keep working on him. The RD isn’t the place to cheap out here. you are taking up part of another weekend so dates really should be invited. Don’t give up the fight!

@Jw1724:  At some point everyone was the “new girlfriend”.  The new girlfriend could very easily become the next fiance.  Extending the courtesy to them now, will not be forgotten should it work out.
