My bridal shower will be out of state and I plan in inviting Future In-Laws. They may not come but I felt it was best if they be included

I would invite them, they’ll be happy to at least receive an invitation and know they were thought of and you wanted them to be there

I have some out of state friends invited to my shower, and I have been invited to showers out of state.  Usually it’s understood that you’re not expected to come.  More of less just inviting them as a show that you thought of them, and if they happen to be in town would be happy to have them.  It’s basically saying  “wish you were here”.

I think an invite should be seen more as a “We want you to be there,” than a summons.  Thats why I’m sending to out of state guests who I doubt will come.

I have this problem too… bridal shower will be in Indiana.. one of my bm’s and Future Mother-In-Law live in California… obviously, there really isn’t a chance they can make it, but I’ll be sending the invite anyway!

@Soon2BeMrsS:  I would invite them, but specifically let them know that you understand that it’s a long trip, and you don’t expect them to make it, but that you wanted to make sure they know that you love them and would love to have them there.

@Soon2BeMrsS:  I would invite all immediate family regardless of if they are out of state or not but I wouldn’t invite aunts/uncles out of state. I didn’t invite any out of state extended family so it wouldn’t seem gift grabby since I know they couldn’t attend.

@Soon2BeMrsS:  We invited them because I wanted them to feel included even though I knew they wouldn’t be able to come.

I invited them. My Mother-In-Law and GMIL made the trip and were there.
