I would send them out 12 weeks before the date. NYE books early and fast, especially in big cities.

I would send them out earlier. We have overseas quests and we are allowing 4 months. Most are already searching for cheap, earlybird flights.

@Nic01:  I thought the whole point of Save-The-Date Cards was that travelling guests could book before the official invites are sent. Why do you think guests won’t book without a formal invite?

@Nic01:  I am sending the local ones later. Its just that relatives want to buy their tickets early because if they wait the prices will be more expensive as summer arrives.

@Nic01: OK, not up with lingo.Whats an oot lol.

We are doing a weekend thing on an island. We are staying there and having our wedding at a vineyard. We have hired a house and others have rented them too. I think it is going to be a weekend party. Everyone will gather the following day and before the wedding. Our honeymoon won’t be till later because we are taking off overseas.

@Nic01:  I hadn’t thought about that but it would be a good idea. I need to provide a lot of information to guests like what time to catch the ferry from Auckland.Where to park car. About ferry pick ups and accomodation available if they wish to stay. Family have already booked accomodation and most know we will be hanging out before the wedding, but it would be a good idea to include that. Thanks for that.

We’re sending them out more than four months in advance.  Partly because it’s me (I want things done and settled), partly because our block of rooms expires a month prior to the wedding, and partly so people can arrange time off, save for the trip and look for travel deals.  Several guests asked me right after New Year’s when our date was.  Like me, they have to block out their vacation time at the first of the year for the entire calendar year.

We did, via email and one snailmail to one cousin who was not online.

We also set up the website as soon as the venue and date were set, and included the URL in the Save the Date emails.
