I am working on my diy invites. I am unsure about the wording, but I want it to be less formal and more fun. The ceremony and reception are in the same place. Anyways, here is what I have come up with (first draft):
Please join us for their love story
Miss Trixie
And
Mr. Rockets
Will be pronounced husband and wife
June 7, 2013
6 O’clock in the evening
EVENT SPACE NAME
123 Main Street
Kentucky
food, drink, and merriment to follow
******Any suggestions!? π

@trixiesrockets: Sounds great. I can’t think of any way to improve it, it’s perfect as-is, good job!

Looks good to me! Although if you want me to, I can be picky about grammar and all that jazz but sounds like it will be lots of fun!

I think it’s adorable… but… the first line is not grammatically correct. Please join us for their love story…. it should be join us for our love story. You could also go with something like Please come celebrate our love story.

I agree that “join US for THEIR love story” makes no sense in terms of the pronouns. I’m also not quite sure what it means in general, you know? How can you join people for their love story? Maybe to celebrate their love story? To add a new chapter to their love story? I like the rest of it though!
Since you asked for suggestions – we’re putting on ours, “Xxx and Xxx invite you to share in our joy as we unite in marriage.” Informal and sweet π

You could also even say “Please join us in celebrating our love story” ??
sounds great though!

The grammar depends on the context. If the wedding invitations are being announced by the parents, for example, it would be correct to say “join us in celebrating their…”.
BUT if the invitations are coming from the bride and groom then you might want to change that! I can see how it looks familiar from other invites that are worded to imply that the parents are asking people to join the bride and groom in the party they are announcing for them.

@trixiesrockets: My suggestion:
Miss Trixie
and
Mr. Rockets
invite you to share their joy and celebrate their love
as they exchange vows and become husband and wife
