I wouldn’t send a gift.  If it were a close friend, and I couldn’t go, I’d send a gift – but, in this case, just RSVP no 🙂  and that’s it!

I can’t imagine her actually expecting that a total stranger would either attend the shower or send a gift.

I wouldn’t go. I suck at awkward social situations anyway. I’d just RSVP no and take a gift to the wedding, as usual.

Politely decline.  That’s all you should have to do!!

I don’t think you have to send her anything, especially if you’ve never even met!!

I don’t think it’s necessarily gift-grabby. A couple of people got invited to my shower by extension of people we knew. For example, we invited my closest neighbor from my childhood and her daughter, who I grew up with. But we also invited that neighbor’s new daughter-in-law so that she would feel included/part of the family. She wasn’t able to attend, and I certainly didn’t expect a gift. So I was pleasantly surprised when she sent a gift along with a heartfelt note about how much it meant to her to have been invited/included. 🙂

If your Fiance is attending the wedding, I would have him take a gift then signed from the both of you. As far as the bridal shower, no.
