- Wedding: September 2008
I’m planning a semi-destination wedding (near my family’s vacation home) and need some advice on the timeline for sending out invites, getting RSVPs, etc.
The wedding is 9/27/08 at a lodge. It’s really complicated because the lodge wants the bride and groom to assign guests to the rooms BEFORE the inviations are sent out. This is so when guests get their invitation they can call and make their reservation and the lodge can put them where you designate. Basically that means we need to know everyone who’s coming, and who wants to stay which nights of the weekend BEFORE we even send out the invitation!
We sent out Save-The-Date Cards asking for tentative RSVPs so we could start assigning people to rooms. We’ve been harassing the MANY people who did not respond. Since their responses were tentative I’m afraid everything will change between now and the wedding and I want to have enough time to get it all squared away (and contact those who fail to respond).
We need to give the final room assignments, and head counts for all the various events (rehearsal BBQ, receptions, morning after brunch) by 9/8.
I was thinking the following timeline, but I’m worried the RSVP date is too far in advance (2 months before the wedding) and don’t want people to change their plans between the time they RSVP and the wedding…
Send invites 6/30, give guests 4 weeks to RSVP by 7/28, have until 8/11 to contact stragglers, leaving me 4 weeks to work out all the logistics of rooming, headcounts, menu selections, etc. by 9/8
Is 2 months in advance too far in advance for an RSVP?
