totally not!  we just sent out our invites for an early sept destination wedding.  our deadline to rsvp is end of may.  i feel that if the guests were to travel to a destination wedding, they probably will make travel plans/reservations ahead of time to be cost conscious.  so 2-3 months is a good timeframe.  also it’d kind of force my guests to plan ahead.  =)

Do YOU want to pick rooms for your guests? It seems like a little bit of an odd request.

I think your timeline sounds perfect. People should know if/if not they are coming by that RSVP date. Considering it sounds like they will need flights or other travel arrangements which would typically be booked at least in late July for a September trip. I think you’re good.

Our wedding is May 10th in the Bahamas, and our RSVP date was March 15th.  Everyone that is coming let us know they were coming and booked their flights long before that. There was really only 2-3 people that were going back and forth, and they are not coming now.

I think most people shouldn’t have a problem RSVPing well in advance.
