I’ll help, because I asked the same question before 🙂

In short, no, they do not have to match! Mine had the same ‘feel’, but they were not similar in design whatsoever.

Let’s see the Minted design!

Mine definitely won’t match!  STD is a beach background and invites are sort of “plain” with a wedding band theme.

I personally don’t think it matters.  My save the dates were fun and really casual and my invites were traditional and fancy.

This is the thread for my save the dates so you can get an idea of the crazy difference between them.

I don’t have a picture of the invites but they had a paisley border and fancy writing.

Nope! Our save the date’s were magnets and our invites were paper with cute little holders…… they didn’t match at all color-wise or style-wise. To be honest, you would probably the only person that would really care or notice, hehe 🙂

@HardyPooleParty: My mom made our STD’s. For our invitations, we got a Target DIY invitation kit. So, they didn’t match. Nobody noticed or cared. I’m happily married 1.5 years later.

I don’t think it matters at all.  Our save the dates were from Minted, and I had originally planned on getting the matching invites – but I just couldn’t get all the info on them I needed to without spending a fortune on insert cards to go in them.

Our save the dates were this:

And our invites were this:

But the colors we’re changed orange and the blue above to this:

Definitely a different feel – for my save the dates we printed in matching font on the envelopes and had wrap around labels from Minted.

For the invites I printed in calligraphy and had them preprinted with our return so it’s a little more formal of a feel, but still light and casual overall.

Good luck!  I LOVED everything on Minted but in the end just couldn’t spend that much for what  Ineeded.

Ours are totally not even almost matching. Our STD’s were very beachy type since that was our original theme, but once we got them printed we changed the theme a little so our invitations will reflect the theme more.

they dont have to match, infact i think its better if they dont, you dont want people to already know what your invites are going to look like before they even receive them

Nah, they don’t have to match.  For my Save The Dates I used postcards from the destination (Savannah, GA) of our domestic destination wedding.  The invites are completely different!  They’re green with seersucker and a big tree!!

I don’t think it matters at all! Our Save-The-Date Cards are fun little post cards that show our theme, whereas our invitations will be formal card stock and whatnot.
