- Wedding: August 2012
Funny “problem” I’m having here. We agonized over our guest list for so long. We wanted to keep it small, and my folks were on board with that plan. Moreso than myself, in fact, since they were pushing me to keep it REALLY small (30 people) at one point over the winter.
I held my ground and basically said that we wanted more people at our wedding than that, and the more extended family found out about it, the more excited people got. I have a BIG family, lots of cousins, oh boy.
the source of stress was the per-head cost, of course. So when we decided to nix dinner and just do an evening ceremony with drinks, appys, and desserts, that solved that problem, hooray! I had confirmed my parents invited MONTHS ago, and we narrowed our guest list down to 124, with around 20 of those being “courtesy” invites to far-off family who are likely to say no. I was trying to keep it to under 100, but hey…
We mailed out all our invites over 2 weeks ago. and since then, my parents have added on 5 more people they would like invited! I should mention, my parents are divorced, so they aren’t working together on this!
At first I was a little frustrated. Like, Why didn’t you say this back at Christmas when we were talking about it? And, what happened to the small wedding you envisioned for your daughter? haha…
the little wedding that grew. I’m sure I’m not alone in this. Anyone?
gawd I hope some people say they can’t come!
