- Wedding: September 2011
So, I was a little taken aback that literally two days after we got engaged, my FI’s parents called him up to make sure some of their friends would be invited to the wedding since they had been invited to the friends’ childrens’ weddings. Some of these people my Fiance doesn’t even know. Usually his parents are very laid back and I figured if anyone would be making requests like this it would be my side. This is of cource before we’ve even been able to figure out what budget we’re working with but we already figured out that our guest list will be rather moderate (we’re not inviting tons of people ‘just because’).
They did offer to cover the costs of their requested guests but as I said, we don’t even know what that $$ per person will be yet. And other than that, they haven’t offered any other financial help as of yet. Also, these people are a few states away, so it’s doubtful that they would make the treck here, but regardless of that and the costs, I just don’t like the idea that there will be people at our wedding that neither I nor husband-to-be know. And it’s not like his parents won’t know anyone else – their extended family is rather large and most will definitely be in attendance.
Is this a little out of line, especially this early in the game, or does everyone do this?
