We’re planning on having family (about 150 people) invited to our ceremony and dinner. Then we’ll have a dance and invite all our friends, coworkers, and many many youth students over the past several years- this could be a couple hundred people, though I know not everyone will come. Our dinner is a buffet starting at 5:30… so I’m wondering, what time do we list for the dance to start so that our dance guests won’t arrive while people are still eating? I was thinking 7 or 7:30, but I’m not sure how long the meal will take? Any suggestions?
Note: I’m NOT looking for opinions on the etiquette of this, so please don’t tell me it’s rude or offensive. This is extremely common where I live and in my circle of friends and family. We’ve already mentioned it to many of our dance-only guests and they’ve all been understanding of the finances and capacity and are glad they will be invited at all.
