I don’t like having attention on me, so the idea of doing a first dance that’s just me and FH on the dance floor with everyone else just staring at us kinda give me anxiety and does not sound fun. Last night, I came up with the idea of us doing our first dance along with both sets of our parents on the dance floor with us. So it would be a total of three couples dancing. And then I thought that for the song, we could have the band do a medly that would include both of our parents’ first dance songs, as well as whatever song we pick for ourselves.
This format also would allow for us to easily switch partners (for example, instead of doing a separate father/daughter, mother/son, and inlaw dances, we could just kinda do it all during this time, because I also find the idea of doing a father/daughter dance where it’s just me and my dad on the floor to be pretty awkward.
I haven’t asked FH about this yet since he is out of town at the moment, but I’m thinking he’d probably be on board because he knows that I hate being the center of attention. Plus, I think it’s a nice way to involve the parents. We’re also not having a bridal party, so our parents will have to help us get everyone else to start dancing.
